Final Project Update

My final project is honestly not going well. I finally think that I’m on the right track but it took hours and hours of iterations and restarts. To be completely honest I still need to email Michelle about my topic because I changed mine a couple times and before I go too far I need her sign off. My topic now is looking at intergenerational trauma in literature through time and space and I thankfully was able to find some variety in primary sources. I was having a really hard time finding primary sources for a while and an even harder time finding secondary sources that would lead me to primary sources. What I really should have done was meet with Michelle, but my schedule was not going to allow for that. I have had to put this project in the backseat in order to get other work done with more pressing deadlines. Unfortunately, next week will be even busier than this last one, but I know that if I don’t meet with Michelle at least once I won’t complete this project. I am hoping that after a meeting on Tuesday, maybe one on Thursday, and a lot of asking questions in the form of comments in my research dock, I’ll be in a good place to just be able to grind out work over break in preparation for the final project presentation. Needless to say I am feeling incredibly stressed and overwhelmed and I’m really hoping that with some hard work, direction, and dedicated time, I’ll come out of it okay.

  1. Honestly, I'm just glad to know there are others in the same boat, haha. I feel pretty behind on stuff and am having doubts with sources and the topic itself. Wishing you the best on the project.

  2. Hey Griffin, I'm sorry this project has been giving you some trouble so far... I totally relate with having to change topics and struggling with finding sources. Something that ended up being very helpful for me was having Michelle suggest some different keywords I could look at to find more sources. I'm still definitely behind where I would like to be, but this helped with a lot of the source searching :) Best of luck! You got this.

  3. Hey Griffin, sorry to hear this project isn't necessarily going how you would like it to. You're definitely not alone with the trouble on the research front. I hope you're able to meet Michelle and get some guidance. You've got this!

  4. Hey Griffin, you're not alone on this. I've switched my topic already and have only found one secondary source that works. It's been difficult for me to find time for this long-term project when I constantly have more pressing assignments to complete. I'm also depending on Thanksgiving break to catch up. There were definitely people in our positions before that managed to pull through. Best of luck.

  5. Hey Griffin! I feel the same way; I have to meet with Michelle a couple times this week too to catch up. I'm worried I'm already behind and that my skills with Neatline are sub-par and my project won't turn out as good as I want it to.

  6. Hi Griffin, I can totally relate when it comes to workload. I have had some trouble researching as well, but luckily, I have not had to switch my topic yet and it hopefully stays that way. Good luck with all your work!
