Question for you about There, There
I would like to ask more about the spider legs and what people think about them. To me personally, I think the whole “spider legs coming out of my legs” thing refers to hair growing on a kid's legs and therefore about growing up. But then I wonder how/if this interpretation relates to the other occurrences of spiders and webs throughout the novel? I’m also curious if you agree with me about the interpretation of the spider legs growing out of Jacquie’s grandson’s legs.
Hey Griffin! I think that is a very interesting interpretation, I like your thinking there! I definitely saw it in more of a mystical/mysterious sense, especially when the boys were explaining how they could see the bends in the legs and everything, so I really like how your interpretation brought more of a physical reality to what this may be.
ReplyDeleteHi Griffin, I was thinking of the spider legs as magical realism, where the spider legs are literally spider legs, but I can also see how growing hairs is a valid explanation to the spider legs as well. What I'm wondering though is why spider legs were even included in the story.
