Final Project Progress
My final project is coming along very slowly. I am realizing that I really need to put more work into it as I write this, but I have been incredibly busy this quarter and I’m taking on a lot more than I was during the last quarter. The fact of the matter is that I feel as though I have constant due dates that continue to sneak up on me, and I can’t push back my homeworks or tests, so I end up putting off my final English project. I know that come finals week I don’t have many test-based finals, and the ones I do have are scheduled before our final English project which gives me reassurance that I will be able to complete it in time. I am picking a literary analysis on “The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano”. This book has really grabbed my attention and I think that there is a lot to write about in terms of the context of this book and the narrative styles that Equiano uses in order to effectively communicate his life and achieve the goal of delivering his message in just the right way. I would love to make comparisons between this book and interpretations of Fredrick Douglas’ “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave”. I would like to look at each of their goals and writing styles in order to understand their effectiveness and different perspectives as well as their similarities. Of course, what I need to do now is talk to Michelle about this, which I plan to do this week.
I definitely relate to that. Between the reading assignments for this class and homework from other classes, it just seems like a lot when we're already worrying about the closer assignments. It's hard to sit down and just start an assignment that's due in the last week of the quarter.
ReplyDeleteHi Griffin, I totally understand that it's been super hard to think so far in advance with constant due dates. Something that really helps me when I'm feeling overwhelmed, is setting up appointments either with our librarian, Kelci or Colin Justin. They can both help you figure out things more efficiently and can point you in the right direction when you're stuck on something.
ReplyDeleteHi Griffin, I can totally relate, why do you think I am posting these comments so late. I took on a bit more than I should have this quarter and I have been doing things as soon as I could, but I always want to put my best effort in, so I end up pushing things back which is what I have been doing with the project. I said I would meet with Michelle last week for this project, but I ended up being too busy, hopefully I can on Thursday. I really like your ideas though of comparing and contrasting with Fredrick Douglas. While I was reading the story, I was always comparing them to the other autobiographies of former slaves, like I read 12 years a slave, a couple years ago, so I was often comparing and contrasting with that story.
